Day 4 of 40

Good Morning Church,
Today is day 4 on our 40 day journey to bring ourselves closer to God. Today’s reading is from Matthew 6. Yesterday we looked at how to and not to pray, today we look at the “model prayer”. This passage is called the Lord’s prayer because it starts with Jesus speaking to His disciples.

Matthew 6:9-159"Pray, then, in this way:
'Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10'Your kingdom come
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
11'Give us this day our daily bread.
12'And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13'And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.]'
14"For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
15"But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.

What a beautiful, simple prayer and what a great example for us to follow. Keep these thought from Jesus in your mind today as you are spending some time with God.
Amen.

  1. Thinking this morning about the first part...our father who is in Heaven...
We serve a God who is not bound by the things of the world. The laws of Physics, even quantum physics don't apply to him. He can see all things at all times; He can care for all things and He is calmly in control of things we don't even know exist.
God is not on earth...and in Heaven, things always go according to His Will. What a magnificent thought...a place where the will of God is perfect and everyone knows the benefit of that.
We give up a lot in our world because we insist on trying to do things our way instead of living inside the will of God.

I, for one, love the idea of serving a God who is not held captive by time or space...
